Getting to Know Asana

Welcome to A.C.E.! We're excited to have you on board. As part of your Orientation, it's important to get familiar with Asana, the project management tool we use to organize our work, collaborate across teams, and keep projects moving forward.

What is Asana?

Asana is a web and mobile application designed to help teams track their work. Think of it as a digital workspace where you can see what needs to be done, who's doing it, and when it's due.

In Asana, you can:

  • Create and assign tasks

  • Set due dates and priorities

  • Organize tasks into projects

  • Comment and collaborate directly within tasks

  • Share files and resources

  • Track progress and milestones

Why We Use Asana

  • Clarity: Everyone knows their responsibilities.

  • Transparency: Teams have visibility into project statuses.

  • Efficiency: Tasks, discussions, and documents are centralized.

  • Accountability: Deadlines and ownership are clearly outlined.

Key Features to Explore

  • My Tasks: Your personal to-do list across all projects.

  • Projects: Organized spaces for team initiatives, broken into sections and tasks.

  • Inbox: Notifications and updates tailored to you.

  • Timeline: Visualize project plans and deadlines.

  • Calendar View: Stay on top of upcoming tasks and milestones.

Your First Steps in Asana

  1. Log In: Check your inbox for your Asana invite and set up your account.

  2. Explore: Familiarize yourself with "My Tasks" and browse through some active projects.

  3. Complete Your Orientation Tasks: You’ll find a "New Hire Orientation" project waiting for you — this will guide you through everything you need to know.

  4. Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to comment directly in tasks if you need clarification.

Pro Tips

  • Use @mentions to tag teammates in comments.

  • Break larger tasks into subtasks to manage work more easily.
